Default Eye of the north.. Hows the character progression?

I'm bored, and thinking of grabbing eye of the north for fun. I have a few level 20s, but got bored of them simply because of the lack of character progression once you hit max level.

So with EOTN being ONLY high level, what are they doing for character progression here? Do you get at all stronger, or are you simply doing dungeons without character advancement?

Or is it just the old formula of
1)hit 20
2)Buy max damage weapons
3)play the rest of the campaign without
character advancement, but magnified to include the entire campaign

there is no further character advancement, just new areas to explore and play through as well as heroes you can unlock

No, the formula is pretty much the same. You hit 20, get max weapons/armor, and go kill things. But really, you're playing the wrong game if all you want to do is watch your numbers constantly go up. Guild Wars is supposed to be a game where everyone is on equal footing and you have to use you skill and knowledge of the game to create builds that can overcome various obstacles.

You might see more of this character progression you want in GW2, with its rumored limitless level system.

Edit: I suppose there are titles you can work on, if that fits into your definition of character advancement.

level 20 is your max level---you will never get higher than that.
The game is about what you do once you get there, not about getting there.
(the plane ride to your vacation is NOT your vacation---what you do once you get there IS)!

this game doesn't even really start until level 20 (with the exception of prophecies which you won't make lvl 20 until around the desert) . ..

QFT

This game isn't about grinding till you reach max lvl, cuz if it was, there would be no game, especially with Factions. The game is more about the titles and skills now more then anything, but before the large amount of titles *basically before Hard Mode* it was about having fun, if lvling is the only thing that makes this game fun, go play a game with infinite levels.

1.) You don't "hit" 20, as such. You don't start a character in EotN, EotN is designed for characters that are already lvl20.

2.) You should already have max damage weapons.

3.)You don't go up in character level, but your character does advance. They always said that level 20 would be the max, so they got around the advancement thing by introducing the idea of "title" tracks that would give you buffs.

They started that back in Nightfall, where you would gain Sunspear and Lightbringer points to get special skills and buffs against certain enemies. It's essentially the same as going up in level, except it's temporary.
In EotN you can accumulate Asuran, Dwarven, Norn & Vanguard points to utilize special skills and get buffs against certain enemy types, or in certain areas.
It's not going up in level, but it is character advancement. Many of the PvE only skills are very powerful and increasing your points in the relevant title increases their effectiveness.
So, even though some people will say you don't have to grind for levels in GW, in actuality, you sort of do - only it's grinding for titles.

Max in GW is God Walking Among Mere Mortals. And in GW:EN, you also need to max out the Hall of Monuments.

That should give you at least 6 months of hard core grinding.

Guild Wars is more about Story advancement then character advancement.

Think of it as your char growing up, once it reaches adulthood the real adventure begins.

I can understand somewhat if you started in Prophicies and went slow you wouldn't hit lvl 20 until very near the end of the story line. That is not the case in Factions and Nightfall where the story really only begins when you hit lvl 20. Untill you've aquired every skill and every elite skill in the game you really haven't explored all there is to do with any one proffesion/secondary combo.

The key to any good RPG is the story, not the lvl max of your char.

Wow I really hope that rumor isn't true! last thing I need is another korean grind game where the more you grind the better your character is. I've seen enough of those back in the day to skip them after checking them out for a week.

You do have Reps to max out in EotN that get you stuff beyond just the L20 stuff.

Beyond that, Heroes, and a new Mission/Questing system, it's pretty standard, just starts at the harder end of normal PvE (mobs are a bit tougher, better skill selection, higher level).
